In light of the current APVMA review of Flupropanate and ongoing industry discussion around its use in managing Giant Rat’s Tail (GRT), Granular Products provides the following statement:
Statement from Ross Norman, National Sales & Marketing Manager at Granular Products:
"This is an important conversation for producers managing GRT.
It is important not to lose sight of the significant impact GRT continues to have and the consequences of not actively managing this highly invasive grass across affected land.
Granular Products’ Flupropanate continues to play a critical role in controlling infested country, particularly in challenging environments where effective, long-term solutions are required.
The focus isn’t on whether it works, but how it is used responsibly, effectively, and in accordance with regulations to achieve the desired results.
We’re seeing strong interest in what this review means in practice and are working closely with producers to help navigate it, providing the right advice at the right time to support the right outcomes.
It’s important to note that the APVMA reviews chemicals on a rotational basis, and Flupropanate has been on the review list since 2024. For Granular Products and landholders, it remains business as usual.
This also highlights the importance of supporting Australian-made and Australian-owned businesses that prioritise strong stewardship of agricultural chemicals and products."
